Technology at SJC

At St. John of the Cross Parish School, we believe technology is a powerful tool that enhances learning, creativity, collaboration, and communication. Our students are prepared to use technology responsibly to explore new ideas, conduct research, solve problems, and create meaningful digital content.

As technology continues to evolve, we are committed to helping students, families, and staff understand both the opportunities and responsibilities that come with digital learning. Through our technology program, students develop the skills needed to become safe, responsible, and ethical digital citizens.

To support this goal, SJC integrates the Common Sense Education curriculum for all students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, providing age-appropriate instruction in digital citizenship, internet safety, online responsibility, and appropriate technology use. We also provide ongoing professional development for faculty and educational opportunities for parents to help support students in today’s digital world.

Together, we empower our students to use technology thoughtfully, safely, and effectively as they prepare for success in school and beyond.

1:1 iPad Program

At St. John of the Cross Parish School, our 1:1 iPad program provides students with the tools and resources needed to enhance learning, encourage creativity, and prepare for success in a digital world. iPads serve as a powerful extension of the classroom, allowing students to collaborate, research, create, and demonstrate their learning in meaningful ways.

Students in grades K–8 participate in our 1:1 iPad program, receiving an individual school-provided device for educational use. Students in grades 4–8 bring their iPads home each day to support learning beyond the school day, while grades K–3 utilize iPads primarily within the classroom environment.

Through our 1:1 program, students engage with:

  • Digital textbooks and interactive learning resources
  • Google Workspace for Education tools
  • Personalized learning platforms
  • Multimedia projects and creative applications
  • Collaborative activities that support communication and problem-solving

Our goal is not simply to provide students with technology, but to teach them how to use it responsibly, effectively, and ethically. Through digital citizenship instruction and purposeful technology integration, SJC students develop the skills necessary to become confident learners and responsible digital citizens.
